God’s Weapon: The Work of Your Hands | Our Father’s Business
Welcome to Education for the New Creature. Today we are talking about Our Father’s Business.
One of the main purposes of being born again is this: when we confess Jesus as Lord, we are saying He owns us. He owns everything about us—our lives, our businesses, our careers, our homes, our gifts. Before we were in Christ, we were under darkness. The enemy had influence over us. But now we are in the light. Now we belong to God.
He owns us to use us for His pleasure, for His mission, and as His weapon.
In Ephesians 6, we read about putting on the whole armor of God so that we can stand against the schemes of the enemy. It lists righteousness, truth, faith, and even the gospel. The gospel itself is an offensive weapon against the kingdom of darkness.
Jeremiah 51:20 says:
“You are My battle axe and weapons of war: for with you I will break in pieces the nations, and with you I will destroy kingdoms.”
That means you—and everything connected to you—are not ordinary. When you became born again, you were positioned by God to destroy the works of darkness. Jesus said He came to destroy the works of the devil. He completed the central work at the cross, but there are still territories to subdue, still people to reach.
Your business, your ministry, your career, your home, your children—everything matters in this kingdom agenda.
In Matthew 24, when Jesus spoke about the signs of the end times, He said the gospel would be preached to all nations. That means the reason we don’t get saved and immediately go to heaven is because there is work to be done. There are still people who have not heard.
Everything God wants to do through your life is connected to bringing more people into His kingdom.
As believers, we must shift our mindset. Our battles are not merely personal. The battle for a Christian is about the kingdom. If you face challenges in your business, it is not just about you. Your business is positioned as a weapon to destroy the works of darkness. That is why the enemy may try to frustrate it.
So how do we consistently win?
First, we must recognize that Jesus is Lord over everything. When we say “Jesus is my Lord,” it means He is Lord over this business, this career, this ministry. We are not the ultimate authority—He is.
We must develop the consciousness that we are not working for ourselves. We are working for the kingdom. The natural human mindset is self-centered: “my plans, my projects, my success.” But as believers, what we do is no longer just about us.
Making money may be part of it, but it is a means to a greater end. Your work is an arrow in God’s hand.
When you understand this, opposition looks different. You realize you are not alone. Heaven backs what heaven initiated. If this is an engineering business, a tomato business, a banking career—whatever it is—it becomes kingdom business when surrendered to God.
If it is heaven’s project, then heaven supports it.
Jeremiah says, “You are My battle axe.” That means your life is a weapon in God’s hands.
In Acts 5, when the apostles were being persecuted, one of the leaders said, “If this work is of men, it will come to nothing. But if it is of God, you cannot overthrow it—lest you be found fighting against God.”
If your business is merely your personal ambition, it may fail. But if it is truly consecrated to God’s purpose, it cannot be overthrown.
There are giants in every industry—big names, powerful systems. But you are sent from heaven. You are not just here to make money. You are here to destroy the works of darkness through what you do.
That mindset changes everything.
When you go to your workplace, you see customers differently. They are not just transactions—they are souls. You may intercede for them. God may give you creative strategies to advance both your business and His kingdom. He may instruct you to use resources to support missions, outreach, or specific assignments.
God can use anything.
A beauty brand can become a platform to reach women with the gospel. Football can become a harvest field. Technology, nursing, teaching—whatever field you are in—God can use it as a channel to reach people.
We must move away from the idea that evangelism only happens with a megaphone or crusade. Jesus told every believer to preach the gospel. The method may differ, but the mission is the same.
There are different ways God sets people up for His purposes. Sometimes He positions someone in business so that their resources can fund kingdom assignments. Sometimes He places someone in a strategic industry to influence a specific group of people.
But it begins with the mindset shift:
“This is not just my enterprise. This is kingdom enterprise.”
When that shift happens, opposition no longer intimidates you. You realize it is not your fight. If it is God’s agenda, no one can overthrow it.
You can boldly say:
“I am not alone. Heaven backs this. This is not just my project—it is God’s mission.”
Christianity is not just about God blessing you for your personal comfort. Scripture says in 1 Corinthians 6:19–20 that you are not your own; you were bought with a price. Your body belongs to Him. That means your business belongs to Him too.
Sometimes God will give you unconventional ideas. They may not look like what others are doing. But if He is Lord, then He directs the strategy.
This is what it means to seek first the kingdom of God. It is not separating business from God and then asking Him to bless it later. It is making the business itself part of the kingdom agenda.
When everything is aligned with His mission, His blessing flows naturally.
Let us make our confessions:
Jesus is my Lord.
I was crucified with Christ.
I died with Christ.
I was buried with Christ.
I suffered with Christ.
Right now, I am justified with Christ.
I am made alive with Christ.
I have conquered Satan with Christ.
I have been raised up together with Christ
and seated together with Christ
in heavenly places,
far above all principality and power and might.
All things are under my feet
because I am in Christ.
Jesus’ righteousness is my righteousness.
Jesus’ wisdom is my wisdom.
Jesus’ strength is my strength.
Jesus’ mission is my mission.
Hallelujah.
