Serving God’s Interest || Our Father’s Business
And yes, this is our Father’s business, right? There are a lot of changes in you. Not just a few—everything changes. Jesus changes everything. He has changed your health. He has changed your character, right? He has changed your pursuit in life.
Ephesians chapter 2:10, Amplified Classic, says that we are God’s own handiwork—His workmanship—recreated in Christ Jesus. We are recreated in Christ Jesus. We are born anew.
In fact, if you go back to Ephesians 2:1–3, it talks about how we were dead in trespasses, walking according to the course of this world, according to the desires of the flesh—my life, my thing, what I want, my ambition. Okay, great. But now, in Christ, everything changes. Every ambition changes. Every ambition becomes God’s ambition.
That’s why it says we are His workmanship, recreated in Christ Jesus. Yes, our health was recreated. Our nature was recreated. Everything that had to do with the fall of man was eliminated. But one of the peaks of our redemption is this: our destiny—our purpose in life—is now one with God.
When Christ was made alive, we were made alive with Him. The Amplified Classic says with the same life. The same life that Jesus has. The same desires God has. It’s not something you struggle to do. It’s like an ignition of what is already in you as a born-again believer. It’s not that you’re forcing yourself. God has worked in you the desire to desire His desires, to align with His plan.
Philippians 2:13 says it is God who works in us both to will and to do of His good pleasure. There is now a willingness. That’s what the finished work of Christ accomplished. Before, we didn’t care. Many people just live to enjoy whatever they can, and when they die, they die. But for the Christian, it’s different. I am now a man or woman on a mission. I’ve been put on this earth to bring forth a harvest, to draw souls to God’s kingdom—whether I’m selling potatoes, selling tomatoes, owning a bank, or working as an engineer. That’s my mission.
A close illustration is that of an orphan boy adopted by a very rich family. For years he may have had small aspirations based on his environment. But once he’s adopted, his location changes. His possibilities change. He now takes on the family’s vision. He may not be ready to run the company immediately, but he will be trained for it. That’s exactly what happens in Christ. We take on God’s agenda.
In Mark 16, after He was raised from the dead, Jesus said, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel.” That’s the mission. He did the finished work; now we spread it everywhere. It may be expressed in different dimensions and methods, but it’s one focus: getting Jesus to everyone, everywhere.
That’s why we must understand the power of the death and resurrection of Christ. 2 Corinthians 5:14 says if one died for all, then all died. The death of Christ was the death of that selfish, ambitious nature. Verse 15 says that those who live should no longer live for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.
On your own—by the power of the Holy Spirit—there is now that craving: I’m here for the Master’s use. I’m here to give Him glory. I’m here to bring souls into His kingdom. That is the work God is doing on the earth right now. Even technology and the internet are tools to advance this great plan—that people hear about this great salvation.
Jesus said in John 6 that He came not to do His own will, but the will of Him who sent Him. If we are one with Jesus, we are not here to do our own will, but the will of the Father. And that will is that everyone hears and responds to this salvation.
It changes your approach to life. There’s an intentionality. You’re not just drifting. You know you’re here for an assignment. Whether it’s business, career, ministry—it’s not random. Ephesians 2:10 says we were created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. There’s a path prepared ahead of time.
Once you are born again, you are born again in health, born again in righteousness, born again for mission. You take the path He has aligned for you. It may not appeal to everyone, but it’s your part. God has worked the desire in you.
We are sensitive to what God wants to do through us. It’s not just holding a microphone and preaching. There are many dimensions—the manifold wisdom of God. But you must stay conscious that you are here for work.
Just as we fight the good fight of faith to stand in health, love, and righteousness, we also stand in this truth: I am born for mission by nature. That doesn’t mean distractions won’t come. The enemy will try to pull you away, make other things look more attractive. But you stand your ground and say, “I am born for mission.”
Some are called to the fivefold ministry, yes. But the Great Commission is for every believer. God is not your business partner in the sense of just making money. Money may be a means, but it is not the end. We are co-laborers with Him. He gives the wisdom, the ideas, the strategy. Everything God releases on the earth ultimately serves His commission.
Colossians 2:3 says in Christ are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. That wisdom is not just for display. It is to be implemented—in your business, career, and ministry—to bring in a harvest.
God is the Author and Finisher. He initiates what He calls you to do. He takes the front stage. You are the visible vessel, but He is the One driving it. When you become conscious of this, you begin to draw from His power more effectively.
The earlier you awaken to this, the sweeter life becomes. The more sensitive you are, the more dangerous you are to the kingdom of darkness. One of the pieces of armor in Ephesians 6 is having your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace. The more awake you are to your mission, the more powerful your life becomes against darkness.
We are born again—saved to serve. God told Moses, “Let My people go, that they may serve Me.” One of the peaks of our redemption is service. We are in Christ. We died with Him. We were raised with Him. We are touched by what touches His heart. When that consciousness comes, the same passion that led Christ to the cross begins to burn in you. You start asking, “How can I use this business to reach souls? How can my work advance the kingdom?”
It changes your prayer life. Instead of just “God bless me,” it becomes, “Lord, how can this be effective for souls?” You begin to work God’s desire. You become aligned with His agenda.
And it’s already in us. Let’s awaken to it.
Let’s say this confession together:
Jesus is my Lord.
I was crucified with Christ.
I died with Christ.
I was buried with Christ.
I suffered with Christ.
Right now, I am justified with Christ.
I am made alive with Christ.
I have conquered Satan with Christ.
I have conquered selfish ambitions with Christ.
I am raised up together with Christ.
I am made to sit together with Christ in heavenly places,
at the right hand of God,
far above all principality and power and might and dominion
and every name that is named.
All things are under my feet
because I am in Christ Jesus.
Jesus’ righteousness is my righteousness.
Jesus’ wisdom is my wisdom.
Jesus’ compassion is my compassion.
Jesus’ mission is my mission.
Jesus’ cravings are my cravings.
Jesus’ priorities are my priorities.
Jesus’ desires are my desires.
His life is my life.
I am one with Jesus.
Thank You, Father God, for stirring our hearts and causing us to walk in the consciousness of who we are in Christ.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
